Golden Girl...

Kristen Wiig
American Museum of Natural History's 2010 Museum Gala

I love Kristen Wiig in this gold Martin Grant mini dress! The leopard print heels and red lipstick are the perfect touch. The styling is dead on, the jewels minimal with pulled back hair and dark nail polish...she looks out of this world!

This is a great look for a holiday party this season, the dress is fun and flirty but still completely full of grown up glamour.  Advice, if you're going to go for this look, do like Kristen did and keep the accessories light and in the same tone as the dress. Keep the bag a nice neutral too like this clutch Kristen carried..

the purrfect pair.

Currently lusting after cat-eyed sunglasses. I'm pretty sure I have to have a pair. I mean, protecting your eyes is totally vital....especially in this blazing hot LA sun. And doing it in style is of utmost importance, right?

Kate Moss....love the whole look. Need the glasses. :) ----->

I'm over the moon for this particular shape. Having been hopelessly devoted to my aviators for ages, it's a bit of a reach to go for another style but change is what nourishes growth. So, me making this investment is really for my own good. You know, to become a more fully formed adult. Also, I just really want them.

<----Sexy Scarlett. Cat-eyed Chic.

I'm pretty sure there's a pair for every face shape...I've taken the liberty of scouring the web and finding a couple of my favorite pairs. If you're like me and find this look particularly to die for, shop this look!

Feminine, chic, classic....Meow!!

in the nude!

I think every woman should have a few essential items in her closet.  This week every night I'll post one item I think is essential. This ain't your momma's list y'all. OK, well my mom and I chatted and her list was pretty close to mine but I have an especially up to date mom. ;) With that said, here we go!

Tonight my first item starts where many outfits begin, the shoes! I've built many an outfit around a great pair of shoes. I think a key pair is the nude heel....Whatever "Nude" means for your skin tone. If you're going with just one pair, go with a classic shape but I am pretty over the moon for the variations you typically see in other colors as well. Check out the shopping section below to get a good range of nude heel options!

Ready? Set? Start Shoping! (powered by Shop Style of course!)

Often these "every woman should have" lists say the essential shoe should be a black heel patent if you're going wild. And while I absolutely think a great black high heel is a quality addition to every closet, I think I'm safe in saying that many women by this point have this item. I've been surprised to find, however, that SO many women don't have a nude shoe.
The benefits of a great nude heel are pretty overwhelming.
1. Unless you're going wild with the sunless tanner...don't go wild with the sunless tanner.....your skin tone will stay the same (even within a few shades) so the heels will work their magic no matter what.
2. Men love legs. This is not rocket science. Women's legs have an innate sex appeal because they're feminine in a way that men's just aren't. They're one part of the body that don't age and always look womanly and beautiful. Therefore, a nude heel drawing attention to them? Obviously a good thing. Sexy legs.....
(image: illustrating a point, legs for days! super hot. also, for male audience viewing pleasure. list continues below.)
3. They make your legs look miles long. Slimming? Yes. Attention grabbing? Yes. Ask Gisele how having incredibly to-die-for long legs is working out for her, and I'm pretty sure she's not going to complain. Those of us not in that same supermodel boat can certainly fake it with a great pair of flattering 5 inch heels!
4. They're classic. I think it's safe to say neutrals that go with a vast majority of items in your closet (at least, the things in your closet that also have any longevity).  If you find a great pair, take care of them and they will certainly last seasons and trends.
5. I think I've made my case.

OK babies, that's my first item for you! Check out the photo inspiration from celebs on the red carpet and on the go after the break.  Be sure to check out the blog every night this week for a new item I think is essential for every fashionista!

LOVE you lovers....

SOCK IT TO ME!

New Obsession: socks. tights. thigh highs. knee highs. over the knee socks. Break it down: LEGWEAR.

OK...I'll admit, this obsession might not be SO new. I was definitely rocking frilly socks with my favorite patent leather mary-janes (which i refused to stop wearing even after I had clearly outgrown them) when I was just an itty bitty little Lexi. But now that I'm all grown up (usually) I'm kind of over the moon for the updated versions of this classic fashion move.

<----Marni Spring/Summer 2010. Quality Style. Obviously.

I just scooped up some over the knee tights from American Apparel (black opaque was my chioce) and I couldn't resist the Ribbed Sock version either, so I grabbed those in butter...delicious!

Also available at American Apparel, and kind of everywhere if you've been looking...are super cute shorter socks. I like the pointelle socks (bonus, it comes in a 2 pack!) and the girly lace sock....adorable and will look super cute with a great pair of heels or even a very of the moment oxford flats.

Digging the shoes Urban Outfitters and Aldo have going on. Again, tres chic and affordable to boot.

Deena & Ozzy Perimeter Oxford
(also LOVE the adorable floral version!)

Lahaie Oxford Lace Up Flats
(noteable, right now Aldo has TONS of shoes like these on sale! yay!)

Another great place to get lustworthy legwear is Sock Dreams. I really love how the website has their products organized by leg coverage. Kind of adore these lace anklets! (Lace is so of-the-moment and I have a feeling it's going to carry right through to fall!) This place has pretty much everything you've ever dreamed of in terms of accessorizing your gams....so get to their site stat! P.S. They have free shipping in the US!

Crocheted tights, nylons with seams up the back, and of course one of my absolute to-die-for's....fishnets (naturally nude being the top pick of all the hues), leg wear can really amp up an outfit. Even in the warm summer months, there are great ways to style it properly. I know I'll be wearing my over-the-knee socks soon with some strappy heels and cute summer dress!

Chloe & Kelly Work the look Perfectly!

Being a kid was all about daydreaming and wonder. So it's no wonder sometimes fashion swings back to the good old days when wearing socks with your fancy shoes was just obvious. It's a trend that can go really wrong really fast so tread lightly.  But please..... try it out if you feel inclined because it can be ultra cute when done properly!

Go ahead...sock it to me! ;)

LOVE YOU BABIES!

Lanvin Lover.

I seriously love Spring time.  Flowers, sunshine, pool parties, my birthday (May 20th...wink wink), and especially spring fashion! Obviously Lanvin brings it with a show stopping Spring/Summer collection.  LOVE.

Lanvin showed color, neutrals, sequins, ruffles, snakes, chains...I mean, jump into my dreams and then make a runway show.  It will look like this one.  Right down to the models styling. (Although while I'm all about the girls rockin' the seriouso look, some of them seem downright angry in this show. IDK how you can be THIS mad in THESE clothes!)
killer dress. but really, if looks could kill...??

I've been lusting over this particular line for a while now, the ad campaign is to-die-for and tons of celebs have been killing it left and right in Lanvin. The ruffles/draped dresses seem to be making the most frequent appearances on the red carpet.  Probably because these pieces look SO amazing on SO many women, and let's face it these dresses are a bit safer than...say...a sequined jumpsuit.
I'm just sayin', with my birthday coming up and I wouldn't hate rocking a Lanvin sequined jumpsuit.  Ya know.  'Cause why not?
SJP, Audrey Tatou, Maggie Gyllenhall

The Lanvin S/S 2010 runway show was also especially rich in the world of accessories.  I'm of the belief system that the right accessories make or break an outfit.  I'm loving Tatou's red shoes and clutch with her coral dress, for instance.  The Lanvin show had lots of looks with one leather glove...which I am kind of dying for.  So...keep an eye out for me sporting this look basically immediately.

Over the moon for this look especially!  Head to toe, the shoes dress clutch...necklace under a sheer top is such a modern way to accessorize and play with this spring's textures and heavy jewels. And there's that leather glove! Beauty.

Lanvin is a fashion house that does draping, structure and embellishment impeccably.  This collection knocked it out, so obviously we're seeing it all over fashionistas and starlets alike.
Just a few of my other favorite looks after the jump! If Lanvin is out of your price range (no shame, let's face it being a reccesionista is tres fab these days!), let this line be an inspiration to you. Lanvin's styling is out of this world.  And there are definitely ways to achieve these looks on a budget!

Love Lanvin and Love YOU!

Better Late Than Never!

...To discuss an amazing fashion moment! I was just combing through some old mags from a few months back when I rediscovered this amazing look Penelope Cruz rocked back in February at the Goya Awards (Spain's answer to the Oscars).  This look is timeless, as is Ms. Cruz herself.  I'm LOVING the vintage Gianni Versace column dress.  A dress should look great coming and going and this one knocks it out of the park.  The rear view is still subtle and elegant, but the zipper details add that extra touch.

The Roger Vivier Silver Box Clutch? Spot on.  Chopard jewels add just the right amount of sparkle without taking away from the dress (vintage Versace is art!) And a simple metallic Casadei heel finishes the outfit off perfectly.

I'm so in love with this look, even though she wore it way back on Valentines Day, (ok, so it's 2 months but let's face it, in fashion that's a lifetime), I'm still dying for it.  She always delivers, true. But this look's a stunner.  Just murdering the green carpet.  White Hot? Uhm, yes.
Loving this look and loving you!
